Amit Ghosh
I, Amit Ghosh, a young emerging artist from Bengal share my ideas that are beautifully constructed with materials collected from my surroundings on the canvas. The characters who work in and around me, items those lay around me, the environment within which I live work as the backdrop of my paintings. Persons with whom the artist within me interacts are recreated on the canvas with my imagination. The paintings describe the artist's thought building process. The art works, mostly, are shrouded with dreaminess. We, human beings are dreamy beings but dreaming does not mean any kind of lapse into passivity. Dream that has several phases of its own unfolds gradually through each of my paintings. However, in this materialistic world some elements take us take from aesthetic aspects of this world. Human life has been mechanical and often it views the environment with a specific frame and fails to think and act free spiritedly. The sky itself has become narrower, confined within some fixed frames. Such action torments the human soul. Harmonious blending of colors and shapes reinforce the idea of continuous movement in human life. More precisely we derive joy from the journey, the pitfalls might disappoint us but these could not push us to resign. Arrangement of colors never depicts any sense of violation or cruelty. Love is almost omnipresent, among all hostilities love unites human beings. Multi-faceted geometrical shapes are my tools to present my perspective in paintings. In my mind each element of environment has significance which is different from the materialistic world, thus they are re-built in more abstract forms. Some of my works have been collected in India and internationally. My paintings are just like the shadows that can easily reflect that atmosphere which we can easily find in our dream and also can attract ourselves to go to the dreamy world from the din and bustle of the city with our nearest and dearest ones.
